This Kentucky Derby Pie recipe is chocolately and nutty. It is named after the beloved American horseracing tradition held every May in Louisville, KY. If you can't make it to event, you can still celebrate at home with this fudgy pie recipe, Cucumber Finger Sandwiches and Mint Julep Cocktails.
Ingredients
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
Spread chocolate chips and nuts in bottom of prepared (not cooked) pie shell.
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Mix in flour. Beat the eggs slightly, and stir into the creamed mixture. Add bourbon.
Pour filling into pie shell (over chips and nuts) and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
Try it with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with cinnamon. Yum!
Note: Serve this pie cold or at room temperature. I did not like the texture when I tasted it warm.
