With the holidays right away the corner, I hope your last minute planning, shopping, cooking, and baking are going well. My menus are all set, the groceries have been purchased and the cooking process has officially begun.
I accomplished alot in the kitchen today including making and freezing 3 breakfast casseroles, 5 loaves of banana bread and a couple of appetizers. Tomorrow should be an easier day, then more prep work on Sunday before heading out of town on Monday. Preparing for Christmas is alot of work but I love it.
New Years Eve is usually pretty low key for us. This year it falls on a Monday so for some people this could mean a busy four day weekend of fun with family and friends. For us, probably a relaxed evening in with some great appetizers and cocktails.
Regardless of how you will be ringing in the new year, some of the recipes below will be helpful.
Cocktail Concoctions
The biggest item on a New Year’s list is most definitely the drinks. While a glass of champagne is nice to have at midnight, it is always nice to have a selection of drinks for the rest of the night. At the Theme Party Queen site, I have several pages dedicated to some great-tasting and easy-to make-drinks.
The pomegranate blueberry martini is a tasty and unique drink to introduce to your friends this year. I also enjoy the chocolate-covered martini, which doubles as dessert. While the Pineapple Bleu is a summer favorite, it is also a great fruity option for the New Year. We also have a nice collection of warm drinks.

Delicious Dips
A dip is one of the easiest and tastiest finger foods to have at any party. I have a page dedicated to a variety of dips, but I wanted to highlight a few of my favorites here. I recently discovered the Green Chili Ham dip which is very tasty, only takes minutes to make and tastes wonderful.
I mentioned before the Crab Dip I made for Thanksgiving. I am making it again for Christmas Eve. Perfect for a special occasion. That recipe can be found here.
